Weekend in Laughlin/Las Vegas
We took a weekend roadtrip to Laughlin so we could make a day trip to Las Vegas on Saturday to take Mom and Dad to visit my nephew Steve and his wife, Erin. Steve is a firefighter/paramedic in downtown Las Vegas and Erin is a dental hygienist. Friday night we arrived in Laughlin. We had a nice dinner, then Mom, Dad and I played some nickel poker machines. Mom ended up $8.00 ahead, so she was pretty happy. On Saturday morning we headed to Vegas to see Steve and Erin. We got to see their beautiful home and also Steve took us on a tour of his fire station. He works for the largest fire station in Las Vegas, which is right by downtown. They have 20 firefighters on duty at all times. It was very cool to see. After the tour, we went back to Steve and Erin's and had lunch and a cake that Erin had baked for Dad's birthay. The soup Erin made was great! (Lasagna soup). Yeah, and the chocolate cake was awesome, too! We headed back to Laughlin later in the afternoon and went to see The Rat Pack Tribute at our hotel. We all enjoyed it very much. Mom and Dad had a great time laughing at all the jokes and listening to all the familiar music. The Dean Martin guy and the Frank Sinatra guy were very realistic looking. Frank ended the show singing "My Way". Awesome show! Sunday morning we went through the Classic Car Museum that is also in our hotel. Dad really enjoyed that (actually we all did). He saw a 1936 Ford Convertible Sedan which was the same car that he had right before he went in the army. He said it was only the third time he has seen one since. Pretty cool. We got back home mid afternoon on Sunday. A very fun weekend.

What a fun weekend. Mom and Dad are never going to want to come back home with all that entertainment.
Wow - so glad you were able to make that trip! One of my un-realized 'dreams' was to put a fireman's pole as a fire escape from our upstairs....so cool to see where Steve works, and his and Erin's beautiful home!
